Aquino III in the Proclamation No. 760 signed on May 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Zero waste is defined as the advocacy that promotes the managing of products to eliminate the volume and toxicity of waste and materials.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-7416\" proclamation is an important reminder of the need to be mindful of the waste we produce.<\/p>\n<p>On this month, the government and NGOs organize events and activities in an effort to educate the public on effective waste management.\u00a0Such activities urge the public in turning a zero-waste society a reality, not only during the first month of the year but the whole year.<\/p>\n<p><img following the <strong>three \u201cRs\u201d of effective waste management<\/strong>\u2014\u201cReduce\u201d, \u201cReuse\u201d, and \u201cRecycle\u201d, and if we may add another \u201cR\u201d, we might as well \u201cRefuse\u201d waste altogether.<\/p>\n<p>There\u00a0are now many alternatives to wasteful plastics, such as straws, plastic bags, and hard plastic containers that are available in the market.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7419\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/tips-guides\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/01\/Zero-waste-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"><em>The local brand, Bambuhay selling bamboo straws Things Sustainable<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>In the Philippines, the <strong>Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000<\/strong> declares certain acts prohibited and providing penalties such as the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Littering, throwing, <strong>dumping of waste matters in public places<\/strong> such as roads, sidewalks, parks will be fined not less than Php 300 and\/or community service of 1 to 15 days in the city where the act was committed.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Open burning of solid waste<\/strong> or operating with pieces of equipment that violate sanitation requirements will be fined not less than Php 300 and\/or imprisonment of 1 to 15 days.<\/li>\n<li>Causing or allowing the <strong>collection of non-segregated wastes<\/strong> and the open dumping of waste materials in flood-prone areas will be fined not less than Php 1,000 and\/or imprisonment of 15 days to 6 months in the city where the act was committed.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"636\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7420\"
