This stuffed beef meat roll is often seen alongside its equally delicious cousin of sorts: the <em>embutido<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Embutido<\/em> is the Filipino way of doing meat loaf. For starters, it does not look like a classic meat loaf: it\u2019s more of a meat <em>log<\/em> or <em>roll<\/em> than a meat <em>loaf<\/em>. Then there\u2019s the way it\u2019s cooked: instead of baking it in the oven, it\u2019s steamed. Is it any healthier than the classic, Western-style meat loaf? Perhaps, perhaps not.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3562\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/tips-guides\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2016\/11\/embutido_9_13.1.353_326X580.jpeg\" alt=\"embutido_9_13-1-353_326x580\" \/><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em>CHICKEN EMBUTIDO. Image grabbed from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knorr.com.ph\/recipes\/detail\/22880\/1\/chicken-embutido-recipe?gclid=Cj0KEQiAvNrBBRDe3IOwzLn6_O4BEiQAmbK-DpvbXjuM97LlmMmq3nhVOuZcvPQv1eaifZZwPAuIhXMaAhvt8P8HAQ&amp;gclsrc=aw.ds\">Knorr.com.ph<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s usually cooked with pork, but since we want yours to be a bit more special, we\u2019ve found a recipe that uses chicken instead of pork, all thanks to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knorr.com.ph\/recipes\/detail\/22880\/1\/chicken-embutido-recipe?gclid=Cj0KEQiAvNrBBRDe3IOwzLn6_O4BEiQAmbK-DpvbXjuM97LlmMmq3nhVOuZcvPQv1eaifZZwPAuIhXMaAhvt8P8HAQ&amp;gclsrc=aw.ds\">Knorr<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For the <em>embutido<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 kg ground chicken<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 cup raisins<\/li>\n<li>1 pc small onion, diced<\/li>\n<li>4 pcs sausage, diced<\/li>\n<li>1 pc small carrot, diced<\/li>\n<li>2 pcs whole pickles, diced<\/li>\n<li>1 pc Knorr Chicken Cube<\/li>\n<li>\u00bc cup Knorr Liquid Seasoning<\/li>\n<li>1 pc raw egg, slightly beaten<\/li>\n<li>\u00bc cup flour<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For the sauce:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 tbsp oil<\/li>\n<li>2 cloves garlic, chopped<\/li>\n<li>250 g store-bought Italian-style tomato sauce<\/li>\n<li>1 cup water<\/li>\n<li>1 pc Knorr Chicken cube<\/li>\n<li>Ground pepper to taste<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Procedure:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Prepare steamer by adding water half way up the water pan and letting it boil.<\/li>\n<li>In a bowl, mix ground chicken, raisins, onions, sausage, carrot, and pickles<\/li>\n<li>Add mashed Knorr Chicken Cube, Knorr Liquid Seasoning, egg, and flour. Mix well.<\/li>\n<li>Divide mixture into 4-5 portions. Wrap each portion in a piece of aluminum foil by rolling into a log. Secure both ends by crimping and folding.<\/li>\n<li>Place rolled <em>embutido<\/em> into steaming basket and steam for 40 minutes or until fully cooked. Check doneness by piercing the foil with a knife.<\/li>\n<li>To make the sauce, saut\u00e9 garlic in oil until slightly browned. Add tomato sauce, water, and Knorr Chicken Cube. Let the mixture simmer and season to taste.<\/li>\n<li>To serve, unwrap <em>embutido<\/em> then slice. Arrange on a plate then pour sauce over slices. Serve while warm.<\/li>\n<li>Alternatively, you can pan-fry the roll in hot oil (remove the foil first) before slicing to get a nice brown color and a tinge of caramel flavor.
