Here in the Philippines, schools celebrate United Nations Day with a parade of costumes and flags of different nations, and holds lessons about cultural diversity. This is true to the spirit of the United Nations that commemorates friendship and partnership of nations.<\/p>\n

1.) United Nations Day is celebrated on October 24<\/strong><\/p>\n

In 1948, the United Nations General Assembly declared October 24, the anniversary of the Charter of the United Nations, as which “shall be devoted to making known to the people of the world the aims and achievements of the United Nations and to gaining their support for its work.\u201d<\/p>\n

Occasionally, a whole day activity is being held to celebrate the United Nations Day.<\/p>\n

2.)\u00a0The Philippines is among the 51 founders of the United Nations<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The United Nations (UN) System in the Philippines began in 1945 when the Philippines joined 49 other nations in signing the United Nations Charter in San Francisco, U.S.A.\u00a0 Since the Charter came into force on 24 October 1945, the partnership between the Government of the Philippines has been growing steadily<\/p>\n

Not only we are among the 51 founders of the United Nations, we also benefit from it; just the recent Yolanda disaster in which 95% aid received by the victims are from the U.N such as the World Food Program, UNICEF, and Habitat.<\/p>\n

5.) United Nations aims \u2018World Peace\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

Its objectives are to promote and facilitate cooperation in international law, international security, economic development, social progress, human rights, civil rights, civil liberties, political freedoms, democracy, and the achievement of lasting world peace.<\/p>\n

To sum it all up, the U.N doesn\u2019t only save lives. They also help refugees, fights climate change and promotes sustainable management. So this coming October 24th<\/sup>, let\u2019s reflect and highlight the works of the United Nations in the most simplest ways as possible.<\/p>\n
