In accordance to the Grandparents\u2019 Day in the USA, the Philippines also celebrate this event in honor of our grandparents who have given us nothing but love and affection throughout our lives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Celebrated during the second Sunday of September, Grandparents Day in the Philippines usually means eating out, giving gifts or flowers for your <em>lolo<\/em> (grandfather) or<em> lola <\/em>(grandmother), or a treating them out nice and relaxing pamper day. Philippines started celebrating this occasion in 1987, and it has since been one of the important events in the family, especially because of the close family ties in Filipino family culture.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Also, in the Philippines, grandparents are not just treated as an extended family member: they are still being considered as part of the immediate family because some would still live with their children even when they already have families of their own. Usually, grandparents are the ones who take care of their grandchildren when the parents are away. They play a special role in a child\u2019s development, especially when it comes to teaching values, respect, and affection that helps influence a child as he\/she grows up.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">If you\u2019re now living in the Philippines and would like your grandparents to experience how it\u2019s like to celebrate the special event in the country, try searching for grandparents\u2019 treat in several restaurants, or better yet, why not give them a heartwarming message?
