Villena.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Sinulog is both the name of the festival and the ritual dance done in honor of the image of the Santo Ni\u00f1o. <em>Sinulog<\/em> means current in Cebuano, and the dance itself resembles the current of what was then known as the Pahina River in Cebu. Odilao Jr as a street dance parade for schools within Cebu City. Participants in the parade come from all over the country, with last year\u2019s dancing contingent drawing 44 teams, nine coming from places as far from Cebu as Masbate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2069\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/tips-guides\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2016\/01\/sinulog-4.jpg\" alt=\"sinulog-4\" width=\"640\" height=\"457\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><em>AND THE WINNER IS. Photo courtesy of Catherine Angeles.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">For this year\u2019s edition, festivities started on January 8 with the Sinulog 2016 Kick Off, which included the Sinulog Trade Fair at SM City Cebu, a launching parade, and street party bands playing well into the night.
