Having lived in the Philippines for some time now, you may have already fallen in love with this country whose tropical climate is as warm and sunny as its people. You now find yourself in close affinity with them that you somehow feel one with them at heart. You share their dreams, like their culture, appreciate their uniqueness,\u00a0enjoy their humour, love their food, empathize with their struggles, accept their flaws, and value them as a people who have welcomed you among them with wide open arms.<\/span><\/p>\n

We couldn\u2019t blame you though because despite their imperfections, the Filipinos are a warm, hospitable, friendly bunch of people you can\u2019t help but love.<\/p>\n

And then, you learn that behind their laughter and never-say-die spirit, some Filipinos actually endure some struggles you knew nothing of. While some live comfortable lives, others live off on a $2 a day, barely-able-to-make-ends-meet way. You learn about the plight of the unschooled children and impoverished families in some depressed areas, and you can\u2019t help but want to do something to help them. You may be surrounded by all the ritzy things the city can offer, but in your heart you feel that you want to live beyond your comfortable world, reach out, and help make a change in these people\u2019s lives, in some way.<\/span><\/p>\n

And so to help you carry out this desire to help, we have listed here some organizations in the Philippines that actively seek to improve the lives of the underprivileged and help protect the world they live in. Remember, there are still a lot out there that you can support so feel free to expand your search. Most of them do not simply provide dole-outs to their beneficiaries but create ways to help them live sustainable lives on their own.\u00a0There are\u00a0groups that share your personal advocacy be it livelihood, education, healthcare, nation building or environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

You can very well share and volunteer your time, talent or resource and be a part of something that can outlive you. You can help change some lives or help make this world a better place, hopefully stop the cycle of poverty, sickness, and risks through education, livelihood, healthcare and community building efforts by working with others as one. Because at the end of the day, our purpose is not simply to enjoy life but to help effect a positive change around us, in our own little ways. Empowered by people who are driven by faith and poverty, Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation,In. 4. Habitat for Humanity<\/strong><\/p>\n

5. United Nations World Food Programme<\/strong><\/p>\n

World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization which addresses the issue of hunger. Yearly since its establishing in 1961, WFP is helping 80 million people in about 80 countries. Aside from alleviating hunger, they also focus on other issues including: climate action, disaster risk reduction, gender equality, nutrition, and more.<\/p>\n
