It\u2019s an experience. And at Yardstick, it\u2019s not just an experience. It\u2019s a <\/em>learning<em> experience.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">When Andre Chanco and his business partners decided to open up a coffee shop in Manila, it was because they felt that Manila was ready for specialty coffee. But being ready for something doesn\u2019t necessarily mean understanding it. That\u2019s why aside from selling coffee and machines to make coffee (as they\u2019re also the official distributors of La Marzocco products in the Philippines), they decided to add one more component to their business \u2013 education.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">\u201cA lot of people come in and ask about our coffee and I explain as much as I can about how we use specialty grade Arabica, but for someone who has no background or any ideas about specialty coffee, it\u2019s not easy to understand,\u201d Andre says when asked why they decided to offer workshops and courses at Yardstick.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff\">&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-453\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/study\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2015\/04\/yardstick1_1.jpg\" alt=\"yardstick1_1\" width=\"850\" height=\"638\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"><em>Andre Chanco and students at a Drink Different workshop<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff\">&#8230;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Their workshops take students about three levels deeper than usual barista courses, going in-depth about the origins of coffee beans, the process of roasting, appreciating the nuances of specialty coffee and much more.
