Whether you pair it with rice or ramen (or eat it as it is), this deep-fried goodness is just so addicting!<\/p>\n<p>But did you know that tempura\u00a0also comes in the form of <em>donburi<\/em> (rice bowl)?\u00a0Introducing\u00a0<strong>tendon\u2014<\/strong>tempura and donburi rolled into one.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Well, we have some good news for you! <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Japan\u2019s award-winning tendon specialty restaurant\u00a0<\/span><b>Tendon Akimitsu<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0made its way to <b>Japan Town, Glorietta, <\/b>marking its fourth branch in the country.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32913\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/food\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2019\/07\/FLAT_4-008-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Tendon Akimitsu is owned by renowned chef <strong>Akimitsu Tanihara,<\/strong> who\u00a0trained under <strong>Dote no Iseya\u2014<\/strong>a restaurant in Japan that has been serving traditional tempura for 130 years.<\/p>\n<p>Eventually, Chef Akimitsu decided to open his own restaurant after enhancing and continuing the legacy that has been entrusted to him. So, ready your chopsticks for a gastronomic treat!<\/p>\n<p>The restaurant&#8217;s main offering is the <strong>tendon set,\u00a0<\/strong>which has four varieties: Nami, Ebi, Squid, and Mixed Tendon. All sets are\u00a0served with miso soup, pickled cabbage, and seasoned fruit slices.<\/p>\n<p>The<strong> Mixed Tendon (Php 390), <\/strong>in particular,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>may look a bit overwhelming as it is generously filled to the brim. It&#8217;s comprised of tiger prawns, fish, egg, carrot, eggplant, beans, and shiitake mushroom, served on top of rice that has been drizzled with their special sauce.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32885\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/food\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2019\/07\/TEN_2-031.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Mixed Tendon Set (Php 390)<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Tendon Akimitsu also serves tempura sets, much like their deep-fried\u00a0<strong>Ebi\u00a0Tempura (Php 510)<\/strong>. The tender beef perfectly complements the shiitake mushrooms, onions, and pickled ginger.
