In the press conference held at Shangri-la Plaza\u2019s Premiere Theatre last June 23, he talked about how the Philippines is currently experiencing the second wave of Japanese food popularity. From the <em>katsu<\/em> craze to the <em>ramen<\/em> wars, the Philippines has become more and more familiar with the taste of authentic Japanese cuisine and he can tell that people are hungry for more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">With <em>Tasteful Japan<\/em>, he hopes not only to continue people\u2019s pursuit of the interesting dishes that Japan has to offer, but also to get people more curious about Japanese culture in general, as the two are very much intertwined.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Some films featured under <em>Tasteful Japan<\/em> are <em>The God of Ramen<\/em>, a documentary about restaurant owner Kazuo Yamagashi and how he found the secret ingredient that has crowds lining up outside his ramen shop in Taishoken and <em>A Tale of Samurai Cooking<\/em>, which shows how a particular style of cooking can affect each member of a family or even an entire clan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">For Japanese Contemporary Films, everyday drama is juxtaposed with fantasy. <em>Parasyte<\/em> is a thrilling sci-fi about unknown entities taking over human bodies, while <em>Wood Job!<\/em> is a coming-of-age story about a city boy who decides to take up forestry work in the countryside.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff\">&#8211;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-924\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2015\/06\/eigasai2-1024x274.jpg\" alt=\"eigasai2\" width=\"850\" height=\"228\" srcset=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2015\/06\/eigasai2-1024x274.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2015\/06\/eigasai2-300x80.jpg 300w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2015\/06\/eigasai2.jpg 1830w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em>L-R: Our Family, Parasyte, The God of Ramen, Wood Job! and A Taste of Samurai Cooking<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff\">&#8211;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Another highlight of this year\u2019s Eiga Sai is the Director\u2019s Talk on July 11 at 4:30 p.m. at the Shang Cineplex Cinema 2 in Shangri-La Plaza.
