{"id":6253,"date":"2017-01-07T11:00:13","date_gmt":"2017-01-07T03:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/?p=6253"},"modified":"2017-01-06T11:12:22","modified_gmt":"2017-01-06T03:12:22","slug":"ccp-met-oprea-in-hd-opens-2017-with-cavalleria-rusticanapagliacci-on-jan-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/2017\/01\/07\/ccp-met-oprea-in-hd-opens-2017-with-cavalleria-rusticanapagliacci-on-jan-10\/","title":{"rendered":"CCP MET Oprea in HD opens 2017 with Cavalleria Rusticana\/Pagliacci on Jan 10"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A twinbill of Pietro Mascagni\u2019s <strong>Cavalleria Rusticana<\/strong> and Ruggero Leoncavallo\u2019s <strong>Pagliacci<\/strong> will be the second offering of the CCP\u2019s Metropolitan Opera in HD Season 4 on January 10, 2017 at Greenbelt 3 cinemas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6254\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2017\/01\/Cavalleria-Rusticana-Pagliacci.jpg\" alt=\"cavalleria-rusticana-pagliacci\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Opera\u2019s most enduring tragic double bill returns in an evocative new production from Sir David McVicar (<em>Giulio Cesare, Maria Stuarda, Il Trovatore<\/em>), who sets the verismo action across two time periods but in the same Sicilian setting.<\/p>\n<p><em>Cavalleria Rusticana\/Pagliacci<\/em> is an opera in one act by Pietro Mascagni to an Italian libretto by Giovanni Targioni-Tozzetti and Guido Menasci, adapted from a play and short story written by Giovanni Verga.<\/p>\n<p>Considered one of the classic verismo operas, it premiered on 17 May 1890 at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome. Since 1893, it has often been performed in a so-called Cav\/Pag double-bill with <em>Pagliacci<\/em> by Ruggero Leoncavallo.<\/p>\n<p>Marcelo \u00c1lvarez rises to the challenge of playing the dual tenor roles of Turiddu in <em>Cavalleria Rusticana<\/em> and Canio in <em>Pagliacci<\/em>.
