Nowadays, the <strong>QCinema International Film Festival, <\/strong>happening from October 13 \u2013 22, is a breeding ground for our country\u2019s young filmmakers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4664\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2016\/10\/image-1.jpg\" alt=\"image\" width=\"850\" height=\"314\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em>THE FUTURE OF PHILIPPINE CINEMA? You can see this and more at the 4<sup>th<\/sup> QCinema International Film Festival. The Quezon City Film Development Council saw it fit to hold a film festival that will highlight the city as a future Film Capital of the Philippines.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Until that happens, though, Quezon City will always be home to the QCinema International Film Festival. For their fourth year, the festival has expanded their line-up to include not just films from young filmmakers, but also films coming from around the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">This year\u2019s QCinema International Film Festival will feature 7 films from young film makers in their main competition called the Circle:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><em>Ang Manananggal sa Unit 23B <\/em>by Prime Cruz<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><em>Baboy Halas <\/em>by Bagane Fiola<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><em> Partee. Ever. <\/em>by Howard \u201cHF\u201d Yambao<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><em>Hinulid <\/em>by Kristian Sendon Cordero<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><em>Patay na si Hesus<\/em> by Victor Kaiba Villanueva<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><em>Purgatoryo<\/em> by Roderick Cabrido<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><em>Women of the Weeping River <\/em>by Sheron Dayoc<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Apart from the 7 Circle films, there are also 8 films featured in QCShorts (short films) and 6 films in the new Asian New Wave (Asian directors with less than two features) as part of the competition for QCinema International Film Festival.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">You can also catch a glimpse of award-winning films from varying genres, regions, and countries in the film festival\u2019s different sections:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><em>Back Throwback<\/em> \u2013 a showcase of two digitally-restored film gems from the ABS-CBN film archives: <em>Kasal? <\/em>(1980) and <em>Haplos <\/em>(1982)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><em>Cinema Rehiyon <\/em>\u2013 a harvest of films coming from different regions of the Philippines<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><em>Focus on Mike De Leon \u2013<\/em> gathering some of acclaimed Filipino director Mike De Leon\u2019s best films: <em>Kung Mangarap Ka\u2019t Magising <\/em>(1977), <em>Kakabakaba Ka Ba? <\/em>(1980), <em>Hindi Nahahati ang Langit <\/em>(1985)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><em>Pinoy Spotlight \u2013<\/em> giving recognition to three Filipino filmmakers: <em>Area <\/em>by Louie Ignacio, <em>Blanka <\/em>by Kohki Hasei, and <em>Unconcious Memory<\/em> by Allan Balbarona<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><em>RainbowQC \u2013<\/em> a collection of films that shed light to the LGBTQ community: <em>#BKKY<\/em> by Nontawat Numbenchapol (Thailand), <em>Jonathan<\/em> by Piotr J. Lewandowski (Germany), <em>Kiki<\/em> by Sara Jorder\u00f6 (USA\/Sweded), and <em>Spa Night<\/em> by Andrew Ahn (USA)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><em>Tribute to Kielowski \u2013 <\/em>see the trilogy that made celebrated Polish director Krzysztof Kieslowski one of the most recognized filmmakers in the world: <em>Blue <\/em>(1993), <em>White <\/em>(1994), and <em>Red <\/em>(1994).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><em>Screen International \u2013<\/em> a collection of the best films from international festival circuits, including the opening film <em>The Handmaiden, <\/em>a Cannes Main Competition entry.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">There will also be several free film forums to be held at the Quezon City Experience (QCX) Mini Theater at the Quezon Memorial Circle.
