If you get lost, you go back to the basics,\u201d he said during a press conference held at the Diamond Hotel yesterday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4102\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2016\/08\/quartet.jpg\" alt=\"quartet\" width=\"850\" height=\"567\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em>A WELCOME TREAT. Apart from telling the media about the new season, the PPO also gave everyone a taste of things to come with a performance from PPO\u2019s string quartet, joined in this photo by Chris Millado (middle left), Vice President and Artistic Director of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, and Maestro Fukumura (middle right).<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">PPO\u2019s latest season sees the orchestra going back to timeless pieces from Tchaikovsky, Brahm, Beethoven, and Mozart, with the aim of taking the orchestra to its highest level. Fukumura has seen PPO\u2019s potential to be one of the best in the world, and he intends to take them to that level.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">He also wants to increase the number of people who go to see their performances, as the orchestra is inspired by the audience. \u201cPhilippine audience is warm and welcoming, but there aren\u2019t that many (who watch PPO\u2019s performances). A way of getting more people to watch is for the orchestra to inspire them to come,\u201d hence the revamped program. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Apart from going back to the classics, the maestro and the PPO have invited several guest performers who will be joining them throughout the 2016 \u2013 2017 concert season. The PPO will be joined by French pianist Monique Duphil in pieces like as G. Gershwin\u2019s <em>Girl Crazy \u2013 Overture <\/em>and <em>Piano Concerto in F<\/em>, A.
