WINNERS of the 2016 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival will be announced at the Cinemalaya Awards Night on August 14, 2016 at 7 p.m. at the CCP Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (Main Theater).<\/p>\n
With the theme \u201cBreak the Surface, this year\u2019s Cinemalaya Festival boasted of 19 new digital films in competition.<\/p>\n
In the full length feature, nine films competed. These were: \u00a0Ang Bagong Pamilya Ni Ponching<\/em> by Inna Miren Salazar and Dos Ocampo, Dagsin<\/em> by Atom Magadia, Hiblang Abo<\/em> by Ralston Jover, I America<\/em> by Ivan Andrew Payawal, Kusina<\/em> by David Corpuz and Cenon Palomares, Lando at Bugoy<\/em> by Vic Acedillo, Jr., Mercury Is Mine<\/em> by Jason Paul Laxamana, Pamilya Ordinaryo<\/em> by Eduardo Roy, Jr. and Tuos<\/em> by Derick Cabrido.<\/p>\n Ten entries competed in the Short Feature category. These were: Ang Hapon Ni Nanding (Nanding\u2019s Afternoons)<\/em> by Rommel Tolentino, Ang Maangas, Ang Marikit at Ang Makata<\/em> by Jose Ibarra Guballa, Bugtaw<\/em> by Noah Del Rosario, Butas<\/em> by Richard Cawed, Fish Out Of Water<\/em> by Mon A.L. Garilao, Forever Natin<\/em> by Cyrus Valdez, Get Certified<\/em> by Isaias Herrera Zantua, Mansyong Papel<\/em> by Ogos Aznar, Nakauwi Na<\/em> by John Relano, Patrick Baleros and Luis Hidalgo, Pektus<\/em> by Isabel Quesada.<\/p>\n Awards in the short film category will be given for Best Screenplay, Audience Choice, Best Film and Best Director. The NETPAC Prize and Special Jury Prize will also be awarded.
