49<\/b>th<\/b>\u00a0Nihongo Speech Contest (2022 Edition)<\/b><\/p>\n

Recently, the Japan Foundation, Manila, a Japanese organization that celebrates the bond between Japan and the Philippines, invited everyone to join the 16th Nihongo Fiesta 2022!<\/strong><\/p>\n

It aims to promote cultural exchange through Japanese Language Education and will feature live performances and various events for those engaged in the Japanese language. Currently, the event will be purely online to keep everyone safe and sound from the dreaded coronavirus.<\/p>\n

One of the highlights of Nihongo Fiesta 2022 is the “49<\/b>th<\/b> Nihongo Speech Contest 2022″<\/strong> which will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022.<\/p>\n

Nihongo Speech Contest 2022 provides a platform to showcase the level of linguistic skills of contestants especially students and professionals that are interested in the Japanese language.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis contest has a long history in the Philippines, and the Center will continue to work to expand the circle of the Japanese language. It continues to attract high-caliber contestants from the country\u2019s numerous language institutes, colleges\/universities, and other organizations offering Japanese language courses,”the Japan\u00a0Foundation, Manila said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Last year Winners and The online event<\/em>\/IMAGE from the Japan Foundation, Manila\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

According to the Japan Foundation, Manila, they\u00a0received three times as many applications compared to the previous year. On the day of the finals, they live-streamed the event on Facebook, etc. The nine finalists connected to the Internet from their workplaces and homes and gave speeches with rich expressions that they must have practiced countless times.<\/p>\n

The three-hour live broadcast was a great success, with over 7,600 views and more than 1,200 comments of support not only from the Philippines but also from Japan and other countries.<\/p>\n

Aside from showcasing their skills, the\u00a0Grand Champion Award\u00a0<\/b>winner will take part in an\u00a0all-expense-paid week-long study tour\u00a0<\/b>in Japan;\u00a0all finalists will receive a Certificate of Participation and special prizes such as Japanese goods and gadgets among others.<\/p>\n

Application Information: Three Categories<\/strong><\/p>\n

Category 1: Student Division<\/strong>
\n1. Must be a student currently enrolled in a university\/college or senior high school in the Philippines.
\n2. Must not have stayed in Japan for more than a total (accumulated) of seven (7) months<\/p>\n

Category 2: Non-student Division<\/strong>
\n1. Must not be a student currently enrolled in a university\/college or senior high school in the Philippines.
\n2. Must not have stayed in Japan for more than a total (accumulated) of seven (7) months.<\/p>\n

Category 3: Open Division<\/strong>
\n1. Those who are not eligible under the conditions of Category 1 or 2 falls under Category 3. However, those who are eligible for Category 1 or 2, but with a \u00a0high level of Nihongo proficiency may apply for Category 3.
\n2. Must not have been a recipient of the \u201cOutstanding Performance Award\u201d or “Grand Champion Award\u201d, in the case of previous winners of Category 1 or 2.<\/p>\n

General Conditions:
\n<\/strong>1. Must be a Filipino citizen or a non-Japanese citizen who currently resides in the Philippines and with a \u201cpermanent resident\u201d status.
\n2. Japanese is not the first nor the native language (mother tongue).
\n3. Must be at least 18 years old by June 1, 2022.
\n4. Must not be a previous winner in a Speech Contest sponsored by the Japan Foundation.
\n5. Must be able to correspond and send digital data via email.
\n6. Must be able to join the \u201call-expense-paid week-long study tour\u201d – if selected as the \u201cGrand Champion Award\u201d winner.<\/p>\n
