The virtual exhibition\u00a0is set to happen\u00a0from <strong>November 6 to 26, 2020<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-29295\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/11\/E-invite-of-Cutting-Corners-Exhibition.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"801\" height=\"801\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Cutting Corners surveys the different realities, thoughts, and ideas of nine artists, namely Floyd\u00a0Absalon, Bea Aspiras, Gab Baez, Andre Baldovino, Steven Burce, Pepe Delfin, Bayani Galera, Kat Grow, and Miles Villanueva.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Together, they form a visual anthology that looks at the consciousness, meanings, and processes in art-making while navigating through a time of uncertainty and disquiet.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-29296\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/11\/ABSALON-Floyd_Defilade.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"801\" height=\"1068\" srcset=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/11\/ABSALON-Floyd_Defilade.png 433w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/11\/ABSALON-Floyd_Defilade-225x300.png 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 801px) 100vw, 801px\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"><em>ABSALON Floyd: Defilade<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The transparency of diamonds is imitated and replicated in <strong>Floyd Absalon<\/strong>\u2019s work. Opposing the exhibition\u2019s title, Absalon painted the image with the absence of the color white, allowing no room for erasures. The result is a glimmering resemblance of the form in its crystal structure.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Strokes of paint, which remind us of early abstract impressionism, drive the force behind <strong>Bea Aspiras\u2019<\/strong> series that explores love stories. In Romantic Comedy, the interspersed dabs of paint are symbolic of a linear equation where at one point, two lines intersect, like parallel lives waiting to meet.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-29297\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/11\/ASPIRAS-Bea_Love-is-Brightest-in-the-Dark.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"803\" height=\"1000\" srcset=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/11\/ASPIRAS-Bea_Love-is-Brightest-in-the-Dark.jpg 1267w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/11\/ASPIRAS-Bea_Love-is-Brightest-in-the-Dark-241x300.jpg 241w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/11\/ASPIRAS-Bea_Love-is-Brightest-in-the-Dark-768x957.jpg 768w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/11\/ASPIRAS-Bea_Love-is-Brightest-in-the-Dark-822x1024.jpg 822w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 803px) 100vw, 803px\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"><em>ASPIRAS Bea: Love is Brightest in the Dark<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Another work, Love is Brightest in the Dark is inspired by a scene from a television show where the protagonists managed to get themselves out of a cave by following their intuitions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Meanwhile, the work of <strong>Gab Baez<\/strong> is drawn from an image of an erupting volcano. Baez\u2019s work reveals the maternal generosity of the goddess while aggressively defending herself from abusers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Andre Baldovino\u2019s<\/strong> art practice delves into the idea of control in the process of automatism. Hence, Baldovino fought against his consciousness to create space for shapes to dominate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Steven Burce\u2019s<\/strong> work manifests abstraction through the pixelation of an image. This process provides a new context for the idea, thus, removing it from its original condition. This particular work was initiated in the aftermath of the Taal Volcano eruption and was worked through the months following the pandemic. Chairs arranged in what seems like a frantic ensemble represent how educational institutions crumble during these difficult times. Made from handmade watercolor paper, the material was folded and resulted in lines made from its creases.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-29303\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/11\/GROW-Kat_The-Other-Side-is-Always.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"1986\" srcset=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/11\/GROW-Kat_The-Other-Side-is-Always.png 317w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/11\/GROW-Kat_The-Other-Side-is-Always-121x300.png 121w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"><em>GROW Kat: The Other Side is Always<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Grow then repeatedly stained the paper to build up color&#8212;a process that would ruin the ground if uncontrolled. In doing so, Grow finds the equilibrium that would somehow purge self-doubt, and tie loose ends after this turmoil.<\/p>\n<p>With an art practice bent on collages and the transformation of materials, <strong>Miles Villanueva\u2019s<\/strong> work for this exhibition visually describes what \u201cdoom and gloom\u201d means.
