The Japan Foundation, Manila (JFM), the Philippine Contemporary Art Network (PCAN), and the University of the Philippines Vargas Museum will host an online talk for the Curatorial Development Workshop series<\/strong>\u00a0happening live\u00a0via Zoom and Facebook<\/strong> on October 21, 2020, 9:30 to 11:15 a.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Aptly titled “Rethinking Curatorial Work”<\/strong>, the public talk will have speakers\u00a0Japan Society in New York Gallery Director\u00a0Kamiya Yukie<\/strong>, Hong Kong’s\u00a0Asia Art Archive Researcher Chuong-Dai Vo<\/strong>, and Bandung Performing Arts Forum\u00a0Co-Founder Taufik Darwis<\/strong>, as they share their insights on art and curation in their respective practice in these challenging times.<\/p>\n

This workshop\u00a0is the sixth in the series since 2009 and seeks to reflect on the relationship between the social context of the public health crisis brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and the kind of curatorial mode responsive to the ecology of production.<\/p>\n

Speaking\u00a0to this context is to explain and propose ways of understanding the complex and delicate condition and to translate these strategies into a curatorial mode or instinct.<\/p>\n

It will be spearheaded by Patrick Flores together with other members of PCAN, namely Tessa Guazon, Renan Laru-an, and Roberto Paulino.<\/p>\n
