Instituto<\/span>\u00a0Cervantes de Manila, in collaboration with\u00a0<\/span>Instituto<\/span>\u00a0Cervantes,\u00a0<\/span>is set to host\u00a0a webinar on Literature titled “Extraterritorial”<\/strong>, which centers in Madrid, Manila, Beijing, and Shanghai happening on September 9, 2020<\/strong>, at 6 p.m.<\/strong> via Zoom<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

“Extraterritorial” is a colloquium about writers who did their literary career\u00a0in a language other than the mother tongue or the official language of the countries where they are living.<\/p>\n

Classics like Conrad, Beckett, Nabokov, or Kundera, among others, migrated in their literary production from their mother tongues to other languages. It will delve into the\u00a0tradition of exophone writers, which has increased in recent years, for various reasons.<\/p>\n

In this discussion, Spanish writer Elia Barcel\u00f3<\/strong>, Filipina poet and Spanish and Italian professor Daisy L\u00f3pez<\/strong>, and published writer Siu Kam Wen<\/strong> from Peru will\u00a0talk about\u00a0their literary relationship with the Spanish language, as authors who reside and produce their literary work in countries with other linguistic realities.<\/p>\n

Moreover, they will also\u00a0exchange their views on how their “border” condition influences their respective works.<\/p>\n
