Take yourself in wonder as Alliance Francaise De Manille (AFM)<\/strong>\u00a0introduces Still in Awe of Nature<\/strong> on January 15, 2020,<\/strong> at AFM Gallery, Makati City<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

AFM Gallery will be filled by the\u00a0latest large-scale nature paintings\u00a0of Allan Cosio<\/strong>\u00a0as a tribute to Alliance Francaise De Manille’s centennial celebrations this 2020.<\/p>\n

Allan Cosio, a Filipino postwar and contemporary painter, brought his name to the limelight through his works that have been\u00a0included in local auctions multiple times.<\/p>\n

His greatness in the field of painting gave him grants from the British Council and the Pollock-Krasner Foundation of New York. Cosio was also awarded by the City of Manila for painting and sculpture and earned the rank of Chevalier de I’Ordre des Arts et des Letters<\/em> from the French Government.<\/p>\n

Cosio\u00a0is not just a painter\u00a0with many recognitions under his belt but he has also won Grand Prices for five consecutive years in the annual competitions of the Art Association of the Philippines, which he once led as\u00a0the association’s president.<\/p>\n

In 1986, Allan Cosio’s “Art for Peace” trilogy\u00a0won a major prize among\u00a01,200 entries at the International Competition in Baghdad.<\/p>\n

Exposed to many auctions and recognitions, Cosio’s paintings have also been exposed to a lot of critics and without any doubt, have also seen the award-winning painter’s works as something remarkable.<\/p>\n

Alice Guillermo, a writer and art critic said that Cosio has the energy, perseverance, and technical prowess to understand an abstract art of richness and complexity.<\/p>\n

\u201cCosio\u2019s abstractions of landscapes, through veering edgily into poetic realism, provide us with the texture and temper of the seasons \u2013 gripped by the sensations of nature, man is reduced to a state of a rapture,\u201d Modern Asian and contemporary painter and art critic\u00a0Cid Reyes said in a review.<\/p>\n
