After a successful campaign promoting Filipino culture through OPM music and traditional street games, Filipino fashion\u00a0steps forward\u00a0in\u00a0<\/span>Awit at Laro<\/i><\/b>\u2019s <\/b>follow-up campaign, <\/span>Baro at Say\u00e1<\/i><\/b> fashion show. <\/b><\/p>\n

It’s\u00a0happening on <\/span>September 22, 2019<\/b> at the <\/span>Grand Hyatt Manila, Bonifacio Global City<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Spearheaded by UNICEF Ambassador Gary Valenciano and Tukod Foundation\u2019s Bambi Ma\u00f1osa-Tanjutco,<\/span> Awit at Laro<\/span><\/i>\u00a0launched the campaign last October 2018 to promote Filipino culture and celebrate the spirit of play\u2014by reintroducing traditional games to the youth through music and the arts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It also serves as a fundraiser event for UNICEF, Museo Pambata\u2019s renovation project, and Tukod Foundation\u2019s Pamato sa Pagtuturo\u00a0<\/em>Awit at Laro workshops for teachers.<\/p>\n

This year, <\/span>Baro at Say\u00e1<\/span><\/i> by <\/span>Awit at Laro <\/span><\/i>features eight local fashion designers and their unique collections, bringing the innately Filipino elements to the catwalk.<\/span><\/p>\n

Featured fashion designers\u00a0include\u00a0<\/span>Len Cabili, Ito Curata, Rhett Eala, Zarah Juan, Marga Nograles\u2019 Kaayo, Anne Marie Saguil, Paloma Zobel\u2019s PioPio, and Rajo Laurel who also serves as overall Fashion Consultant for the project.<\/p>\n

Designers will present pieces with a story, with an aim to give children the opportunity to appreciate the Philippines\u2019 indigenous fabrics. Said items will become heirloom pieces that can be passed on to the next generation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Each designer took inspiration from the Awit at Laro <\/em>songs assigned to them to create modern outfits using <\/span>ethnic designs and weavings, set against the backdrop of Filipino traditional games and OPM<\/span>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What makes this fashion show all the more exciting is the Awit at Laro\u00a0<\/em>album with songs that inspired the designer’s collection, which will accompany the models as they walk through the runway.<\/p>\n

Guest artists for the fashion show night include the Awit at Laro<\/em> album producer Gary Valenciano, Darren Espanto, the TNT Boys, and Sofia Zobel Elizalde\u2019s STEPS dance project with choreography by James Laforteza.<\/span><\/p>\n
