Get immersed in the legacy of Spain\u2019s literary icon Miguel Hern\u00e1ndez as Instituto Cervantes de Manila will\u00a0run an exhibition titled <\/span>\u201cMiguel Hern\u00e1ndez, a plena luz\u201d<\/b> from <\/span>July 25 to September 16, 2019<\/b> in the heart of <\/span>Intramuros, Manila.<\/b><\/p>\n

Organized by the Diputaci\u00f3n de Ja\u00e9n (Provincial Government of Ja\u00e9n),\u00a0in collaboration with the Junta de Andaluc\u00eda, Centro de Estudios Andaluces, the Centro Andaluz de las Letras, the Generalitat Valenciana, and Instituto Cervantes,\u00a0<\/span>this exhibition is one of the projects established to commemorate the 75<\/span>th <\/span>death anniversary of Spanish poet and playwright Miguel Hern\u00e1ndez, who hails from Orihuela, Alicante.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It aims to make people aware of the literary legacy of Hern\u00e1ndez, which is treasured and safeguarded by the Diputaci\u00f3n through the Instituto de Estudios Giennenses (IEG).<\/span><\/p>\n

The exhibition \u201cMiguel Hernandez, a plena luz\u201d was inaugurated in Ja\u00e9n in December 2017 through Juan Jos\u00e9 T\u00e9llez, the Director of the Centro Andaluz de las Letras. It then went on an international tour in 2018, taking the poet to three continents.<\/span><\/p>\n

To this day, visitors\u00a0are able to view the exhibit in Instituto Cervantes London, Manchester, New York, Chicago, and Dublin.\u00a0<\/span>Manila is the only Asian city included\u00a0in\u00a0the international tour, after which the exhibit will be heading Toulouse and Paris.<\/span><\/p>\n

Spanish literary legend<\/h3>\n

Considered as one of the most authentic figures of the 20th-century Spanish literature, Miguel Hern\u00e1ndez\u2019s literary beginnings were marked by religiosity, which was predominant during that period, and a self-taught literary education based on the classics of the Spanish Golden Age.<\/p>\n

His book <\/span>El rayo que no cesa<\/span><\/i> (1936) made him famous in the poetry circles of Madrid, where he had decided to move in order to try his luck as a poet. During the time of the Civil War, he was still able to publish <\/span>Viento del pueblo<\/span><\/i> (1937) and <\/span>El hombre acecha<\/span><\/i> (1938).<\/span><\/p>\n

After the war, he was arrested and imprisoned, where he died in subhuman conditions in 1942.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Full Light<\/h3>\n

Centering on Miguel Hern\u00e1ndez as an icon of poetry and enlightenment, the exhibition offers a glimpse of his life through photographs and interactive devices that display digital copies of his works and various documents.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are also original pieces such as manuscripts, letters, book editions, photographs, and other personal objects from the legacy of Hern\u00e1ndez, which were acquired by the Diputaci\u00f3n de Ja\u00e9n through the writer\u2019s heirs.<\/span><\/p>\n
