The Sandbox Collective<\/b>\u00a0is bringing back <\/span>Dani Girl: A Musical About Hope<\/b> to Manila for their 5th year!\u00a0The show\u00a0<\/span>will run from <\/span>August 10<\/b> to <\/span>September 1, 2019<\/b> at the<\/span> Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium<\/b>,\u00a0RCBC Plaza<\/b>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A musical by Michael Kooman and Christopher Dimond, Dani Girl aims to remind audiences that humans are capable of overcoming life\u2019s biggest obstacles.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

First staged in the Philippines in 2014, this inspiring musical revolves around the character of <\/span>Dani Lyons<\/b>, a 9-year old battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia (A.L.L). Dani loses her hair to chemotherapy and sets on a magical quest to find it. <\/span><\/p>\n

She then embarks on a journey o<\/span>f lightsaber duels, game shows, outer space, and all the silly games in between with her best friend <\/span>Marty,<\/b> who is also a cancer patient, and her \u201cguardian angel\u201d<\/span> Raph<\/b>.\u00a0<\/span>Aside from Dani\u2019s hair, the trio also tries to seek the answer to the question <\/span>\u201cwhy cancer?\u201d\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Despite her obvious dilemma, Dani\u2019s character is stark proof that there is no limit to a child\u2019s imagination and determination\u00a0amidst the most difficult times.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Cast of Dani Girl: A Musical About Hope<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Philstage Gawad Buhay<\/em> awardee Rebecca Coates will play the title role of Dani alternating with Kyle Napuli. Sharing the role of Marty with Daniel Drilon is Luigi Quesada, who originally played the character in the first run.\u00a0Raph, on the other hand, will be played by Lorenz Martinez and new cast member Juliene Mendoza.<\/p>\n

Finally, Katharine Lyon takes the role of Dani\u2019s religious mom, together with Awit<\/em> award-winning actress Shiela Valderrama-Martinez and Pam Imperial.<\/p>\n

Dani Girl: A Musical About Hope is directed by Toff de Venecia<\/strong> and co-produced by 9 Works Theatrical<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
