It&#8217;s <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">happening on <\/span><b>August 25, 2019<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> at the <\/span><b>Whitespace <\/b><strong>Manila, <\/strong>organized by the\u00a0<strong>Philippine Chili Federation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">During the press conference,<strong> Ponchit Ponce Enrile<\/strong>, head of the federation and host of the festival, discussed the history and goals of the Chili Festival as well as what to expect at this year\u2019s event. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"801\" height=\"534\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-24454\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/07\/PANEL.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/07\/PANEL.jpg 801w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/07\/PANEL-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/07\/PANEL-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 801px) 100vw, 801px\" \/><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">(L-R)\u00a0Johnny Lugod of Labuyo 100, Ponchit Ponce Enrile-Philippine Chili Federation founder, Eric del Rosario- Philippine Hot Sauce Club co-founder, Larry Lim and Jun Gamboa of Chili Growers Philippines<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Joining him are representatives of the groups that are part of the Philippine Chili Federation: Eric del Rosario of\u00a0Philippine Hot Sauce Club, Jun Gamboa and Larry Lim of\u00a0Chili Growers Philippines, and\u00a0Johnny Lugod of\u00a0Labuyo 100. Other groups include Kasili, Sili Wars, Dabawenyo Capsicum, and Mindanao Chili Growers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">For a registration fee of <strong>Php 200<\/strong>, attendees will experience exciting activities for the whole day. Also expect a multitude of freebies from participating brands!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Surefire activities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Some of the highlights of the Philippine Chili Festival include the Hot Sauce Competition, Labuyo 100 Rites, as well as lectures and demonstrations on chili planting and hot sauce making.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The <strong>Hot Sauce Competition<\/strong> is hosted by the Philippine Hot Sauce Club. Hot sauce makers all around the Philippines can exhibit their best hot sauce, and have it judged by 40 of the country\u2019s top hot sauce connoisseurs. This year, more than 300 entries are expected for the 19 categories of the competition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">These hot sauces will then be put in what they call <strong>Table of Fire, <\/strong>which is\u00a0a hot sauce buffet that attendees can freely taste.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-24457\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/07\/Hotsauce-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For the lecture, the country\u2019s quintessential potted plant grower <strong>Vic Chin\u00a0<\/strong>will talk about the secrets in growing beautiful potted chili plants. Meanwhile,\u00a0<strong>Miggy Esguera<\/strong> of <em>Miggy\u2019s Peppers <\/em>will lecture on hot sauce-making, focusing on the fermentation method considered as the holy grail of hot sauce making.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Further, new members of the Labuyo 100 will be initiated at the Chili Festival. <strong>Labuyo 100<\/strong> is an exclusive club that promotes the consumption of chili\u2014<em>labuyo<\/em> in particular. Labuyo is known as the spiciest type of chili in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Attendees have\u00a0to eat 100 pieces of labuyo to become a member of the group, while\u00a0present members have to do it again to renew their membership.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/PhilChilliFed\/photos\/a.680952332301586\/680952642301555\/?type=3&#038;theater<\/p>\n<p>There will also be a series of eating contests, an all-day bazaar, and band performances for everyone to enjoy. <strong>Johnny Scoville<\/strong>, a rockstar of the chili community, will grace the festival.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What the Chili Festival is all about<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The growing number of attendees and participants in the Philippine Chili Festival came as a surprise to the members of the Chili Federation.
