Tuloy ang Saya-wan<\/strong> is a fundraising gala performance organized by Ballet Manila<\/strong> and Academy One<\/strong>\u00a0happening on July 21<\/strong> at the Star Theatre <\/strong>in Pasay City<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n

The two institutions joined forces to stage a show aimed at raising funds to help sustain their respective ballet scholarship programs.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur common goal is to provide ballet scholarships for street children and marginalized Filipino youth. We believe ballet can help create social change,\u201d Ballet Manila’s Artistic Director and World-Class Ballerina Lisa Macuja-Elizalde said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Ballet Manila has been giving underprivileged children free ballet training since 2008 with their Project Ballet Futures\u00a0program, while Academy One trains\u00a0kids\u00a0from Tuloy Foundation, a\u00a0shelter for street children.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Aside from being a fundraiser, the show will also highlight the success of the two scholarship programs.<\/p>\n

In fact, most of the performers are former scholars of Ballet Manila and Academy One like Celine Abrea and Rodney Catubay, who will\u00a0perform the Pas D’Esclave pas de deux from\u00a0Le Corsaire<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Tuloy ang Saya-wan\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>will also feature\u00a0former Ballet Manila Principal Dancer\u00a0Katherine Barkman of The Washington Ballet and Marcelino Libao of Hamburg Ballet, who will premiere as a choreographer in the Philippines.<\/p>\n
