See how layers of torn paper interpret a human’s fleeting memory\u00a0at CIRCA<\/strong>, Lui Gonzales’<\/strong> second solo exhibition happening this April 12 until April 27, 2019<\/strong>, at\u00a0ArtistSpace, Ayala Museum<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

ArtistSpace<\/strong> and Kaida Contemporary Gallery<\/strong> proudly present CIRCA<\/strong>, a collection of artworks made up of layers of torn papers,\u00a0<\/span>presenting bits and impressions of <\/span>occurrences, and snapshots of episodes that were once part of a larger experience.<\/span><\/p>\n

Gonzales explores the fleetingness of memories through\u00a0<\/span>drawing, layering and eventually tearing them\u00a0to highlight and conceal some parts. This represents\u00a0how our recollection of events are\u00a0often changing and indistinct.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Lui Gonzales, a graduate\u00a0of\u00a0Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Studio Arts major in Painting at the University of the Philippines Diliman,\u00a0<\/span>was also one of the delegates who represented the Philippines at the ASEAN Youth Camp for Visual Arts in 2010 held in Hanoi, Vietnam.<\/p>\n

She has since been actively participating in exhibitions both locally and abroad including being part of an exhibition in\u00a0Sangkring Art Space at Jogjakarta, Indonesia called \u201cPaper Trails”.\u00a0She had her first solo exhibition in 2018 at Eskinita Gallery titled \u201cColorless Confetti,\u201d<\/em> followed by a group show \u201cSimulcra,\u201d<\/em> also under the same gallery, at The Substation, in Singapore in 2019.<\/p>\n

This April, Gonzales is bringing some of her works at CIRCA on view at the ArtistSpace from April 12 to April 27, 2019<\/strong>.\u00a0ArtistSpace is located at the Ayala Museum Annex, Ground Level, Makati <\/strong><\/span>Avenue corner De La Rosa Street, Makati City<\/strong>. It is open from Mondays to Sundays, from 10 am to 7 pm<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span>Admission is FREE. <\/strong><\/p>\n
