As one of the most successful vocal groups of the 1950s, <\/span>The Platters<\/b> is the first African-American music group to rise to international popularity during that era. Its original group\u2019s name came from the idea of the metal disk that rotates vinyl records in the phonograph called \u201cplatters\u201d. <\/span><\/p>\n

This vocal group has created numerous chart-topper songs for at least 40 times in the Billboard chart and 16 gold records.<\/span><\/p>\n
