Ballet Manila is opening their 23rd<\/sup> season Tour de Force<\/strong> with Iconic.<\/em> The two-weekend affair called Iconic 1.0<\/strong> and Iconic 2.0<\/strong> will revisit some of the company\u2019s most memorable collaborations which have been selected from a repertoire of more than 200 ballets performed since 1995.<\/p>\n

ICONIC 1.0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Iconic 1.0 was last played on September 1 & 2, 2018 at the Aliw Theater. It drew mostly from Ballet Manila\u2019s global network and will highlight works such as Annabelle Lopez Ochoa\u2019s Bloom. <\/em>This piece is the Colombian-Belgian choreographer\u2019s first-ever work for an Asian dance company.<\/p>\n

One of the most prolific Filipinos in European ballet, Augustus \u201cBam\u201d Damian III\u2019s Sotto Voce <\/em>was also staged.<\/p>\n

Going back to its Vaganova roots, Ballet Manila performed a restaged version of Romeo & Juliet <\/em>by Russian legend Sergei Vikulov.<\/p>\n

ICONIC 2.0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Meanwhile, Iconic 2.0 is all about Ballet Manila\u2019s home-grown talent and will perform works such as Gerardo Francisco\u2019s Ibong Adarna, <\/em>Osias Barroso\u2019s Ecole, <\/em>the late Ballet Manila co-founder Eric V. Cruz\u2019s Carmen, <\/em>and Lisa Macuja-Elizalde\u2019s Fur Elise. <\/em>Iconic 2.0 will play at the Aliw Theatre from September 8-9, 2018.<\/p>\n

Ballet Manila\u2019s CEO and Artistic Director Lisa Macuja-Elizalde shared that these pieces were curated to show the extent of the company\u2019s talent. True enough, with 17 different ballets, 14 featured choreographers, and dances that range from the classical to contemporary, there\u2019s surely something for everyone at the 2 Iconic shows.<\/p>\n
