{"id":17396,"date":"2018-08-04T07:31:16","date_gmt":"2018-08-03T23:31:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/?p=17396"},"modified":"2018-08-03T18:32:07","modified_gmt":"2018-08-03T10:32:07","slug":"first-ever-manila-international-piano-masterclass-festival-this-august-4-to-11","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/2018\/08\/04\/first-ever-manila-international-piano-masterclass-festival-this-august-4-to-11\/","title":{"rendered":"First-Ever Manila International Piano Masterclass Festival This August 4 to 11"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Supported by the embassies of Belgium, the Netherlands, and France, the\u00a0first-ever <strong>Manila International Piano Masterclass Festival (MIPMF)<\/strong>\u00a0is set to happen from August 4 to 11, 2018 at the showroom of Manila Pianos, Inc. in Makati.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Focused on the art of piano performance, the intensive music camp seeks to give more young Filipino classical pianists the opportunity to study under the tutelage of renowned musicians from Europe and the United States without having to travel abroad while supporting the continuing development of cultural exchanges between Europe and the Philippines.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The MIPMF is organized by Filipino concert pianist, artistic director, and educator, who trained at Chetham\u2019s School of Music in England and at the Manhattan School of Music in New York, where he completed his Bachelor and Master of Music Degrees in Piano Performance. A recipient of the Ten Outstanding Young Men Award in 1996 for his contributions to the arts, Cruz is one of the pioneers of the renaissance of classical music awareness in the Philippines.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-17407\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2018\/08\/Jovianney-Emmanuel-Cruz-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"><em>Jovianney Emmanuel Cruz<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>For the festival\u2019s inaugural edition, Cruz will be joined by five eminent pianists and pedagogues coming from France, Italy, and the United States in leading private one-on-one lessons, masterclasses, and performance revues, as well as performing in private recitals in Manila:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>\u00a0(France and Italy)<\/strong> \u2013 a famed international piano pedagogue, Maestro Delle-Vigne Fabbri has been teaching at the prestigious \u00c9cole Normale de Musique de Paris \u201cAlfred Cortot\u201d in France for over 40 years, and was appointed Professor Extraordinaire at the Chapelle Musicale \u201cReine Elisabeth\u201d in Belgium and Honorary Professor at the Palm Beach Atlantic University in Florida. He is also the founder and artistic director of the International Certificate for Piano Artists, an international pedagogical program organized in collaboration with numerous foreign institutions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-17412\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2018\/08\/Nelson-Delle-Vigne-Fabbri-1-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Nelson Delle-Vigne Fabbri<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Roberta Rust (United States)<\/strong> \u2013 Dr. Rust has performed in prestigious venues all over the world, including Carnegie Hall\u2019s Weill Recital Hall, New York\u2019s Merkin Concert Hall, Rio de Janeiro\u2019s Sala Cecilia Meireles, Washington\u2019s Corcoran Gallery, and Seoul\u2019s KNUA Hall. She is the head of the piano department at the Lynn University Conservatory of Music in Florida. She obtained her Master\u2019s degree from the Manhattan School of Music and her Doctorate from the University of Miami, and also studied at the Peabody Conservatory.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-17409\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2018\/08\/Roberta-Rust-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Roberta Rust<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Chiara Cipelli (Italy)<\/strong> \u2013 Cipelli graduated with highest honors at the Conservatorio G. Nicolini in Piacenza, Italy and later, at the Hochschule f\u00fcr Musik Freiburg in Germany. She continued her studies under the tutelage of Nelson Delle-Vigne Fabbri at the \u00c9cole Normale de Musique de Paris \u201cAlfred Cortot\u201d in France, where she earned her Dipl\u00f4me Superieur de Piano.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-17405\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2018\/08\/Chiara-Cipelli-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Chiara Cipelli<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Adam Kent (United States)<\/strong> \u2013 Dr. Kent is the Director of Cultural Outreach at the Burgos International Music Festival and teaches at the Cursos de Verano of the Fundacion Princesa de Asturias in Spain. For his advocacy and specialization in Spanish music, Dr. Kent was bestowed the Orden al M\u00e9rito Civil by the government of Spain. He obtained his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Manhattan School of Music in New York and completed his Doctor of Musical Arts from Julliard.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-17404\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2018\/08\/Adam-Kent-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"><em>Adam Kent<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Elodie Vignon (France)<\/strong> \u2013 an Artist-in-Residence of the Fondation Bell\u2019Arte, Vignon completed two Master\u2019s degrees in Piano Performance and Chamber Music (with distinction) and has performed as a soloist in festivals and music halls all over the world, including those in Paris, Brussels, Madeira, Vilnius, and Moscow. She recently released her first CD recording entitled \u201cComplete Etudes for Piano\u201d by Claude Debussy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-17406\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/event\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2018\/08\/Elodie-Vignon-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Elodie Vignon<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">According to Cruz, the visiting artists represent the three main Schools of Thought with regards to piano performance, which would offer positive and holistic training to the developing pianist.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">For 10 days, these esteemed virtuosos will serve as mentors to 18 Filipino delegates who are students or graduates of the major schools of music in the country, such as the Philippine High School for the Arts, the Philippine Women&#8217;s University, Silliman University, St. Scholastica\u2019s College, the University of the Philippines, and the University of Santo Tomas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">It is the first piano festival in the country set in the 19th-century European salon-style environment, which is described as live, intimate performances of serious art music in residences for an exclusive audience.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cPianists ought to be well-rounded musicians. Aside from the Schools of Thought and the technical aspects of playing the piano, a pianist&#8217;s development ought to include advocating the theoretical and historical values of the instrument they have come to love.
