As the film industry continues to blossom in the Philippines, the eagerness of independent filmmakers began to flourish now more than ever\u2014annual film festivals that highlight independent local movies continue to emerge as their supporters grow and become more passionate through the years.<\/p>\n

In June 2018, multi-awarded Filipino filmmaker and producer Nick Deocampo spearheaded the search for films to be highlighted on\u00a0“THE HIDDEN CINEMA: The Virtual Experience of the Philippine Cinema Centenary”<\/strong>, the country’s largest gallery exhibition for independent films, or alternative cinema.<\/p>\n

The film exhibit is open to\u00a0all amateur\u00a0and professional filmmakers who had their films screened to the public\u00a0during festivals here in the Philippines or abroad.<\/p>\n

The exhibit’s goal is to celebrate alternative cinema’s success in the country for the past one hundred years. Visitors may expect to see various genres such as Propaganda, Cultural Films, Music Videos, Environmental Films, films regarding the LGBTQ community, and\u00a0more.<\/p>\n
