Choir singing is a largely unappreciated art. The melodies produced by a dozen or so voices is quite the treat for anyone’s ears, and the skill it takes to be a part of one isn’t something that can be taken lightly.<\/p>\n

If you’re a member of an amateur choir or a choral conductor looking to level up your choir, this is your chance to learn from the best, as the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ (CCP) Center for Choral Performance holds its\u00a014th Hands-on Choral Workshop<\/strong>, happening from May 29 – June 2 at various CCP Venues.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

A program under the Center for Choral Performance, the Choral Workshop is a choral clinic open to amateur choirs who have been in existence for at least two years, and choral conductors, who wish to hone their skills in choral singing, conducting and performance. This highly regarded Workshop has trained choirs and conductors from different parts of the country, some of whom have already competed and won in local and international choral competitions.<\/span><\/p>\n

This year’s workshop will be led by present and alumni members of the Philippine Madrigal Singers and their choirmaster,\u00a0Mark Anthony Carpio. Learn vocal techniques,\u00a0sight-singing and ear training, individual choir cliniquing sessions, conducting sessions for choral conductors, and a plenary session wherein all the choirs and conductors gather together to learn a common piece.<\/span><\/p>\n

Each registered choir will be given the chance to perform at the\u00a0Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino, also known as the CCP Little Theater, during the five-day workshop. Registered individual choral conductors, on the other hand, will be given a chance to\u00a0conduct the laboratory choir, the Sing Philippines Youth Choir (SPYC), during the workshop proper; a first for the Hands-on Workshop.\u00a0The workshop\u00a0will culminate in a program at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (CCP Main Theater) on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 3 pm, featuring all the participating choirs and conductors.<\/span><\/p>\n
