MNLLikha x Sipat Lawin Ensemble, in collaboration with Offsite Dance Project, a group from Japan\u00a0 will be presenting RE\/PLAY Dance Edit<\/strong> at the Power Mac Center Spotlight,\u00a0Circuit Lane, Circuit Makati, on January 13 and 14, 2018.<\/p>\n

RE\/PLAY is the brainchild of Junnosuke Tada, a renowned Japanese theater maker, and made the production in 2011 for his theater company Tokyo Deathlock. It\u00a0is a production that will bring together dance artists from the Philippines, Japan, and Cambodia to create a version of Tada’s work tailored for Manila audiences.<\/p>\n

It explores the intent and meaning of re-production through bodily repetition of physical movement. Performers dance to the tune of pop music until they collapse from exhaustion, only to get up and repeat the process.\u00a0 This controversial work has an endless structure that subverts the reason and meaning of dance and reveals the urgency of life and chaotic nature of contemporary society.<\/p>\n

The first international collaboration was presented in Singapore in 2016 and was co-produced with TheatreWorks, followed by a second collaboration in Cambodia in 2017. For 2018, the Manila collaboration will be co-presented by performance-maker Eisa Jocson with MNLLikha Arts Agency and contemporary performance company the Sipat Lawin Ensemble.<\/p>\n

Alongside Eisa Jocson, the Filipino dance artists joining the Manila iteration of the performance are Irish Paul Mendoza, Carissa Adea, and John Paul Ortenero. Aside from these performers, they will also be joined by foreign performers like Narim Nam and Sophal Sor from Cambodia, and Kitamari and Sachi Masuda from Japan.<\/p>\n

Regular tickets are priced at Php 500. A 50% discount will be given to students who will present their valid school IDs.
