This month, Posporo(s)<\/strong> brings all-girl bands Agoraphobia<\/strong>\u00a0from Spain and\u00a0Flying Ipis<\/strong>\u00a0of the Philippines together in another unifying showcase of the Philippine and Spanish music on September 23 at the Mandala Park in Mandaluyong.<\/p>\n

The event is one of the series of concerts, a project dubbed Posporo(s), started in 2016 by the Embassy of Spain and the Instituto Cervantes de Manila with the support of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) to promote the historical and cultural relationship between the Philippines and Spain through music.<\/p>\n

The event also serves as a platform for independent musicians of the two countries to be known\u2014Spanish music to the Philippines and Filipino music to the Spanish audience in the metro.<\/p>\n

Composed of small-town girls from Boiro, Spain, Agoraphobia is a garage rock band whose name was inspired by an Incubus song of the same title.<\/p>\n

Flying Ipis meanwhile is a garage punk rock band composed of four girls based in Manila. The band’s name, which literally translates to “flying cockroach” in Filipino, was in fact inspired by a cockroach that took wing during a rehearsal.<\/p>\n
