However, there are better ways to mark a turning point with powerful art\u00a0like the presence of the Hocus exhibit.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Hocus&#8221; is an acronym, based on two\u00a0combined names of artists featured in the exhibition\u00a0at the Gallery XXI of the National Museum of Fine Arts- Saul Hofile\u00f1a and Guy Custodio.\u00a0Saul Hofile\u00f1a\u00a0is a lawyer and historian by profession,\u00a0while Guy Custodio\u2014a conservator of the church\u2019 treasures, collaborated with the said project during a period of almost four years with a purpose of melding in oil, wood, and woven cloth the Philippine nation\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p>Happening this coming September 2, 2017, from\u00a02 pm to 4 pm at the Osme\u00f1a Function Hall\u00a0of the National Museum of Fine Arts,\u00a0be fascinated with our church history, and the Political history during the Spanish period through various lecture series and 32 contemporary paintings of the two known painters!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-20573\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/08\/21077353_1652304141460564_7778723316100647488_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"960\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"><em>IMAGE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE PHILIPPINES<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Hocus 5 will feature\u00a032 contemporary paintings that deal with the subject of Patronato Real or Royal Patronage, an arrangement made by the Spani<span class=\"text_exposed_show\">sh Monarchy and the Holy See and its ramifications to the Spanish colonial rule in the Philippines.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>There will also be three speakers during the event\u00a0who will be discussing \u00a0lecture series namely:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dr. Jose Victor Torres, Associate Professor from the De La Salle University, will be giving a talk on the &#8220;Cross and Crucible: The Spanish Missionaries (1565-1800)&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Architect. Paulo Alcazaren who will discuss \u201cARROCEROS: Saving Manila\u2019s Last Green Frontier&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Architect Dominic Galicia, who will focus on the &#8220;Adaptive Reuse of the Department of Tourism (DOT) building&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The HOCUS Exhibit is still on going until October 29 at the\u00a0Gallery XXI \u00a0of the National Museum of Fine Arts is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 am until 5:00 pm.<\/p>\n<p>Admission for both the lecture and the exhibit is free of charge and open to the public;\u00a0however, participants are encouraged to pre-register to reserve seats.
