PGA Sompo Insurance Corporation celebrated its 25th anniversary on November 7, 2016 at Conrad Manila in Pasay City.<\/p>\n

PGA Sompo Insurance Corporation was established in 1991 as a joint venture of Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Insurance Inc. with the Philippines’ largest insurance company\u2014Prudential Guarantee and Assurance Inc. Sompo Japan Nipponkoa holds 40% of the shares.<\/p>\n

From the past few years, PGA Sompo has been focusing on services for Japanese companies, but since this year marks its 25th anniversary, the insurance corporation plans to strengthen service to non-Japanese companies. Currently, transactions with non-Japanese companies are 30%, but the target is 50% or more within five years.

PGA Sompo Insurance Corporation offers services in different areas including two insurance services called \u201cTrade Credit insurance” and “Weather Index Insurance”.<\/p>\n

In Trade Credit Insurance, for example, even if a business customer goes bankrupt before payment, unpaid amount service is paid by the insurance company.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Weather Index Insurance is a service launched in 2014 for farms in Mindanao, Philippines for damages caused by typhoons and the like. Regardless of whether the damage is big or small, insurance money is paid every time a typhoon passed through. At that time, it was the first insurance service in the Philippines.<\/p>\n

There were about 500 attendees in the event from Philippine and Japanese companies.<\/em><\/p>\n
