Due to safety issues, several airlines in the Philippines namely Philippine Airlines (PAL), Cebu Pacific (Ceb Pac), and Philippines AirAsia issued a travel advisory regarding the usage of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 in their flights.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to a report by the CNN Philippines<\/em>, the airlines cite safety reasons for the said ban. Passengers are prohibited to charge and use the said mobile unit on board in all flights following the global recall order for the device.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a statement by PAL on their Facebook page, they announced that implementation, starting September 9, is a directive of the International Air Transport Association (IATA). \u201cFindings showed that the Galaxy Note 7 batteries and phone units have caught fire during charging prompting the manufacturer to recall all units sold worldwide,\u201d said PAL. Also, PAL does not allow these devices for checked-in items, but may be hand carried as long as they are switched off. \u201cAll Samsung Galaxy Note 7 units – whether used or brand new – will not be accepted as PAL cargo shipment,\u201dends PAL in their statement.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Cebu Pacific also released a statement regarding the said ban, posted on their website:<\/span><\/p>\n

Likewise, AirAsia Philippines issued a statement saying \u201c”All guests traveling on AirAsia and AirAsia X, who own the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 device, must turn it off until disembarkation from the aircraft. The device must not be kept in any checked baggage as well,” said AirAsia.<\/span><\/p>\n
