The Bureau of Immigration (BOI) reminds passengers flying out of the country to arrive at airports four hours early in order to comply with further security measures and stricter immigration protocols.<\/span><\/p>\n

This action is in relation with President Rodrigo Duterte\u2019s declaration of a state of emergency after the bomb incident in Davao City night market on September 2 (Friday) that claimed 14 lives and caused more than 60 casualties.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente, passengers should expect stricter and longer protocols for the heightened security. International passengers should be at the airport early to allow for security baggage checks, check in at airlines and immigration inspection.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cExpect stricter and longer immigration protocols in view of the state of lawlessness. This mandates all agencies in the customs, immigration and quarantine services to tighten security,\u201d said Morente.<\/span><\/p>\n

Morente also added that travellers should be cleared for departure at the immigration counter at least 45 minutes before the flight.<\/span><\/p>\n

Some airport and airline officials have already released their statements, reminding passengers on domestic and international flights to arrive earlier at the airport.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Philippine Airlines (PAL) management advised passengers to arrive early at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport to give them lead time to go through the heightened security.<\/span><\/p>\n

PAL spokesperson Ma. Cielo Villaluna said measures include checkpoints near the airport and longer security checks at the entrance and exit points of airport terminals.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Manila International Airport Authority is also keeping strict surveillance of passengers within the airport and implements strict car inspection.<\/span><\/p>\n

Also, the Airport Police Department personnel manned the entrances of the airport terminals and outer perimeters.<\/span><\/p>\n
