{"id":7654,"date":"2016-09-05T17:16:48","date_gmt":"2016-09-05T09:16:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/?p=7654"},"modified":"2016-09-05T17:17:15","modified_gmt":"2016-09-05T09:17:15","slug":"five-countries-issue-travel-advisories-after-davao-bombing-incident","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/2016\/09\/05\/five-countries-issue-travel-advisories-after-davao-bombing-incident\/","title":{"rendered":"Five countries issue travel advisories after Davao bombing incident"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">After the bombing in Davao just last week which resulted to the death of 14 people and more than 60 casualties, five countries have issued travel warnings to their citizens in the Philippines.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7655\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2016\/09\/wer1.png\" alt=\"wer1\" width=\"850\" height=\"377\" srcset=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2016\/09\/wer1.png 850w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2016\/09\/wer1-300x133.png 300w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2016\/09\/wer1-768x341.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The five countries, namely <strong>Australia, United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Singapore<\/strong>, released travel warnings informing their citizens about the &#8220;state of lawlessness&#8221; declared by President Rodrigo Duterte after the explosion in his home city.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><strong>Australia\u2019s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade<\/strong> has issued a \u201chigh degree of caution\u201d travel warning on the Philippines<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">\u201cWe advise you to exercise a high degree of caution in the Philippines due to the high threat of a terrorist attack and the high level of crime. You should pay close attention to your personal security at all times. Monitor the media and other sources about possible new security risks. Seek specific advice for the locations you intend to visit,\u201d Australia\u2019s DFAT advised.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The <strong>United States Embassy<\/strong> said in its advisory that it was temporarily suspended all official travel to Mindanao.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">&#8220;The Embassy encourages all US citizens to remain vigilant and employ sound personal security measures as you go about your day. The Embassy will continue to monitor the current state of affairs in the Philippines and will release additional messages as needed,&#8221; it said in its travel advisory.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The <strong>British Embassy<\/strong>, on the other hand, advised against &#8220;all but essential&#8221; travel to Eastern Mindanao where Davao City is. British citizens are also advised to refrain from travelling to the rest of the island.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">&#8220;There is a high threat from terrorism, including kidnapping. There has been an increase in kidnapping of foreign nationals since late 2015. It&#8217;s likely that terrorist groups continue to plan kidnap operations against western nationals in the region. You should remain vigilant at all times,&#8221; said the British Embassy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The <strong>Singapore Embassy<\/strong> in Manila also advised its citizens to &#8220;exercise vigilance&#8221; as it condemned the bomb attack.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">&#8220;Singaporeans in the Philippines are advised to exercise vigilance, and monitor the local news and instructions of the local authorities,&#8221; it said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">&#8220;Singapore condemns the bomb explosion in Davao City, the Philippines, on 2 September 2016, which killed and injured many innocent people. We extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families and wish the injured a speedy recovery,&#8221; the Singapore embassy added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Meanwhile<strong>, Canada<\/strong> has also warned its citizens against travelling to Mindanao and Sulu.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">&#8220;There is no nationwide advisory in effect for the Philippines.
