And so it happened \u2013 the geekiest weekend of the year just ended\u00a0with a loud bang! AsiaPOP Comicon Manila 2016,<\/strong> the most awaited event of the year, did not\u00a0spare a single man, woman, or nerd of fun and excitement!<\/span><\/p>\n

The biggest annual comic and pop culture convention in the Philippines and the region, AsiaPOP Comicon Manila took place at the SMX Convention Center, SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City from August 26 – 28. The latest\u00a0installment was jam-packed with fun activities, games, arts and fair, taking up the entire\u00a0SMX Convention Center floor. Though most of the major highlights of the event were scheduled on Days 2 and 3\u00a0(August 27 and 28), fans were already lining up at the venue on Day 1 \u2013 all wanting to be one of the first to see what this year\u2019s AsiaPop Comicon had in store.<\/span><\/p>\n

A grand wrestling ring put\u00a0up by\u00a0Philippine Wrestling Revolution<\/em> greeted those who attended the event, along with cool folks dressed as their favorite anime or cartoon character. There toy collections and life-sized figures of different comic book superheroes on display, along with different booths selling character items and comic art. Lucky visitors also got to meet the artists and collectors themselves.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you happen to pass by your favorite character because cosplayers, you should not have been shocked. They were all roaming around the venue \u2013 all ready to pose for a photo-op with their fans. From amateur cosplayers to your favorite internet personalities \u2013\u00a0 they were everywhere!<\/span><\/p>\n

Apart from all the amazing activities, AsiaPOP Comicon also had the pleasure of having famous Hollywood celebrities grace the event: Nicholas Hoult, Joe Dempsie, Claire Holt and the youngest of the four, Millie Bobbie Brown.<\/span><\/p>\n

AsiaPOP Comicon gave fans of these celebrities a chance to see their favorite stars face-to-face with a meet-and-greet session on the second and third day of the event. Nicholas and Joe were the first to meet the Filipinos as the media sessions with them were scheduled on the second day while the two girls; Claire and Millie shared the last day of the event.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cast members of the renowned historical film\u00a0Heneral Luna<\/em> and Patintero<\/em>, a new film directed by\u00a0Mihk Vergara, also showed up on Day 2 to promote the showing of the new film.<\/span><\/p>\n

The venue was teeming with nerds and geeks up to the last day. Winners for the Cosplay Authority Global Challenge Competition were also announced: Princess Joviel Espos for the Kids Category and Fred Vi\u00f1as as the APCC Cage Champion.
