Animals, like people, also have rights to a safe and normal life. Filipinos are known as animal-loving people, thus many are concerned with animal welfare. These volunteer-based non-government organizations help care for sick, neglected, abused, and injured animals. You can also donate or adopt a pet, join volunteer programs and animal welfare advocacy, animal-related seminars and events and report animal cruelty. <\/span><\/p>\n

Animal Kingdom Foundation (AKF)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

AKF is a non-profit animal welfare non-government organization (NGO) committed to improving the living and welfare conditions of animals in the country and eliminating the cruel trade of dog meat for human consumption. This organization aims to work in ensuring the prevention of cruelty and suffering of animals. It strives towards protection and promotion of their welfare by advocating an improvement to their living conditions, by campaigning to eliminate causes that bring about pain and discomfort to the animals. AKF will work towards a symbiotic, harmonious and healthy environment for both humans and animals.<\/span><\/p>\n

Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

PAWS is a registered non-profit organization which is dedicated to the protection and the promotion of humane treatment of all animals, aiming to educate and disseminate information concerning animal welfare, animal care, animal control, and other animal-related concerns. It campaigns actively against animal cruelty and pet neglect, including activities like dogfights, horsefights, and wild animals being used for entertainment. This group also runs an animal shelter called PARC (PAWS Animal Rehabilitation Center) that currently cares for over 300 cats and dogs rescued from cruelty or neglect. Here, these animals are rehabilitated in the hope of finding them new homes and a second chance at a good life.<\/p>\n

CARA was formed in the year 2000 by a dedicated group of animal lovers determined to help the plight of animals in the Philippines, aiming to make the country a compassionate place where all cats and dogs have good homes. It also promotes animal welfare in the country through education, public awareness, affordable sterilization and veterinary care, and the rehabilitation and rehoming of cats and dogs in need.<\/p>\n
