Located at the eastern shore of Manila Bay, Manila is composed of 16 districts which are Binondo, Ermita, Intramuros, Malate, Paco, Pandacan, Port Area, Quiapo, Sampaloc, San Andres, San Miguel, San Nicolas, Santa Ana, Santa Cruz, Santa Mesa, and Tondo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">It was on June 24, 1571 when Manila was proclaimed as Spain\u2019s capital city in the Philippines where in a government was established. Manila Mayor Arsenio Lacson declared June 24 as Manila City\u2019s foundation day and it was in 1963 when then Manila Mayor Antonio Villegas changed the name from \u201cFoundation Day\u201d to \u201cManila Day.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Manila is also considered to be the home of the country\u2019s government agencies and commercial businesses in PH. In 2012, Manila was listed as a global city by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network.
