{"id":6313,"date":"2016-06-14T10:00:13","date_gmt":"2016-06-14T02:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/?p=6313"},"modified":"2016-06-14T19:13:28","modified_gmt":"2016-06-14T11:13:28","slug":"filipino-wins-tony-award-for-best-costume-design","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/2016\/06\/14\/filipino-wins-tony-award-for-best-costume-design\/","title":{"rendered":"Filipino wins Tony award for best costume design"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Another Filipino has been added to the list of talents who have won a Tony!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"> New York-based designer Clint Ramos bagged the award for the play <em>Eclipsed<\/em> at this year&#8217;s Tony Awards on Sunday, June 12.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6314\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2016\/06\/640_ZZZ_061316_showbiz_2016_06_13_10_30_51.jpg\" alt=\"640_ZZZ_061316_showbiz_2016_06_13_10_30_51\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The University of the Philippines Theater Arts alumni started doing design work for the campus&#8217; theater production, Dulaang Unibersidad ng Pilipinas, before getting a Master of Fine Arts Design degree for Stage and Film at the New York University\u2019s Tisch School of Arts under a full scholarship. Since then, he has been designing costumes for plays both in the U.S. and internationally.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Ramos is the 4<sup>th<\/sup> Filipino to have won a Tony, including Lea Salonga for her performance at Miss Saigon, Jhett Tolentino for Best Revival of a Play and Best Musical, and Robert Lopez, who also has an Emmy, Oscar and Grammy under his wing, for Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The play <em>Eclipsed<\/em> will run until June 19 at the Golden Theatre, between 8<sup>th<\/sup> and Broadway, New York.
