Exercises Prohibited in Metro Manila During ECQ"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Outdoor exercises are banned <\/strong>in the National Capital Region (NCR) during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), the Metro Manila Council (MMC) announced on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-61921\" Pexels<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The order was released through<strong> MMDA Resolution No. 21-17, series of 2021<\/strong>, signed by 17 Manila mayors and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chair Benhur Abalos Jr.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is hereby resolved that the MMC prohibits outdoor exercise in NCR during the ECQ until 20 August 2021 through the local government units of Metro Manila,\u201d the resolution read.<\/p>\n<p>The decision was made after the consistently rising number of COVID-19 cases, including confirmed cases of the highly transmissible Delta variant of the coronavirus in the metro.<\/p>\n<p>While the council recognizes the need for exercise, especially to promote and maintain physical, mental, and emotional health, staying at home is necessary to curb the rise in COVID-19 cases.<\/p>\n<p>Malaca\u00f1ang also urged NCR residents to follow the resolution.<\/p>\n<p>In a virtual press conference, <strong>Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque<\/strong> advised people residing in Metro Manila to stay at home during the ECQ to protect themselves against COVID-19. <em>\u201c<\/em>If they think, it is important to stay home for just 10 days, let\u2019s just follow,\u201d Roque said.<\/p>\n<p>Metro Manila is placed under ECQ from August 6-20 to curb the spread of the highly contagious Delta variant.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Department of Health <\/strong>said Metro Manila is at a high-risk classification based on the capital&#8217;s positive two-week growth rate and high-risk average daily attack rate.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><em><span
