His work, which is very popular in Spain, carried a satirical wit that has a universal appeal.\u00a0<\/span>His long and fruitful cinematographic career, his unmistakable hallmarks as a creator, his corrosive humor and his work, which comprise some of the great classics of 20th century Spanish cinema, make him worthy of a wider audience among film aficionados.\u00a0<span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The\u00a0<\/span>online film\u00a0<span lang=\"EN-US\">series will feature four titles that have marked Garc\u00eda Berlanga\u2019s career. The series will kick off on 5 June, Saturday, with the screening of<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"><i>\u00a0<\/i><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"><i><b>Esa<\/b><\/i><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"><i>\u00a0<\/i><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"><i><b>pareja<\/b><\/i><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"><i>\u00a0<\/i><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"><i><b>feliz<\/b><\/i><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0(1951).\u00a0<\/span>This comedy &#8211;heavily influenced by Italian neorealism&#8211; 20 June, catch the third movie of the cycle, the comedy\u00a0<b><i>Pl\u00e1cido<\/i><\/b>\u00a0(1961).\u00a0<span lang=\"EN-US\">Reputed as one of<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">Garc\u00eda Berlanga<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u2019s masterpieces, this\u00a0<\/span>sarcastic Christmas story, which was written by Rafael Azcona and Garc\u00eda Berlanga,\u00a0<span lang=\"EN-US\">is a strong statement against the hypocrisy of society.<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0It recounts the adventures of a motorbike driver hired in a sordid advertising promotion campaign called &#8220;Let a Poor Man Sit at Your Table.&#8221; As with other films of the period, life in the provinces is contrasted with the emergence of the new consumer society, at a crossroads that is neither paradoxical nor sad.\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-PH\">There is no balance for either of the two lifestyles, and for both sides there is a sense of despair.<\/span><span lang=\"EN-PH\">\u00a0<\/span>The movie will be available on 19 &amp; In the last period of his career, with Spain having already transitioned to a democracy, Berlanga filmed three works to criticize the opportunism of the Spanish upper classes, which had enjoyed the perks of Francoism.\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"><i>Patrimonio nacional<\/i><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0is the second instalment of this trilogy.
