The festival will be hosted by journalist and EHEF goodwill ambassadors Dr. <strong>Danie Laurel<\/strong> and\u00a0 Erasmus+ scholar <strong>Kate Ramil<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>EU in partnership with the Green Archer<\/h3>\n<p>This time, literary luminaries mobilized by the De La Salle University-Manila will join European poets and readers. Poems to be recited adhere to the theme of \u201cPagkakaibigan and Bayanihan.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr. <strong>Mesa\u0301ndel Virtusio Arguelles<\/strong> is the author of 20 books of and about poetry, most recently <em>Atra: Mga Tula 1999 \u2013 2019<\/em> (<em>Balangay<\/em> Books, 2020) and Three Books (<em>Broken Sleep Books UK<\/em>, 2020), with translations by <strong>Kristine Ong Muslim<\/strong> and<br \/>\nillustrations by <strong>Erika M. Carreon<\/strong>. Santos Creative Writing Center. A multilingual writer, he has published more than 15 books of poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction in Kinaray-a, Filipino, Hiligaynon, and English. He is currently the secretary-general of <em>Unyon ng mga Manunulat sa Pilipina<\/em>s (UMPIL) or the Writers<br \/>\nUnion of the Philippines. She has earned fellowships from the 13th Iyas and 20th Iligan national writing workshops for her poetry in Cebuano and the Pasidungog Eduardo Makabenta Sr. Para han Siday for her poetry in Waray. Her piece is \u201c<em>Paglak\u00e1t mo nag-lipstick ako hin pula<\/em> (When you left I put on red lipstick).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr. <strong>Genevieve L. Asenjo<\/strong> is a professor of Literature and Creative Writing and Chair of the Department of Literature, De La Salle University, Manila. She is included in the 2018 Cultural Center of the Philippines Encyclopedia of Philippine Art (Literature) for her works in Kinaray-a, Hiligaynon, and Filipino. Her new books are <em>Ang Itim na Orkidyas ng Isla Boracay: Mga Kuwento<\/em> (University of the Philippines Press, 2021) and <em>Indi Natun Kinahanglan kang Duro nga Tinaga sa Atun Tunga\/Hindi Natin Kailangan ng Maraming Salita sa Ating Pagitan: Mga Tula sa Kinaray-a &amp; Filipino<\/em> (University of the Philippines Press, 2021) which is part of the Philippine Writers Series by LIKHAAN: UP Institute of Creative Writing. She will recite her own work, \u201c<em>Sa Gihapon, Palangga ang Uran<\/em>, Always Beloved the Rain\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-60818\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2021\/05\/rsz_1genevieve_asenjo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"427\" height=\"641\" srcset=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2021\/05\/rsz_1genevieve_asenjo.jpg 427w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2021\/05\/rsz_1genevieve_asenjo-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 427px) 100vw, 427px\" \/><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">IMAGE from Ailene Co \/ Genevieve Asenjo<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Dr. <strong>Johann Espiritu<\/strong>, Vice-Chair of the Literature Department, will provide a special song number.<\/p>\n<h3>Poets and Readers from the EU<\/h3>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Carl Norac<\/strong><br \/>\nBelgium&#8217;s fourth National Poet and a prize-winning poet and author of many widely acclaimed and best-selling children&#8217;s books will recite his original works: &#8220;Pour Marcel Moreau&#8221; &#8211; For Marcel Moreau, his friend who is a Belgian writer too and who has unfortunately recently passed away and &#8220;Pour Mustafa, pour Mustafa K\u00f6r&#8221; (For Mustafa, for Mustafa K\u00f6r), a poem dedicated to Mustafa K\u00f6r who will, in fact, succeed him in January 2022 as a National Poet.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dora \u0160ediv\u00e1<\/strong><br \/>\nDaughter of Ambassador Jana \u0160ediv\u00e1\u00a0 (Czech Embassy) is back with her friend, Marika \u0160t\u011bpkov\u00e1, daughter of Deputy Ambassador Jana Peterkov\u00e1, (Czech Embassy) will read Fortune (\u0160t\u011bst\u00ed) by Adolf Heyduk, both in Czech and in English.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hans Christian Andersen<\/strong>&#8216;s philosophy and favorite phrase was \u201cDet er Liv et Reise\u201d or \u201cTo Travel is to Live\u201d by Hans Christian Andersen, which will be read by Danish Ambassador Grete Sillasen.<\/p>\n<p>German actress <strong>Luisa Katharina Davids<\/strong> will recite the German translation of \u201cMi Ultimo Adios\u201c as 2021 is the year when the German Embassy also unveils an exhibition with Jos\u00e9 Rizal\u2019s former furniture from Heidelberg, Germany, and an official marker with the German translation of \u201cMi Ultimo Adios\u201c at the Museo ni Jos\u00e9 Rizal in Intramuros. (For more information about the artist, please visit this <a href=\"https:\/\/luisakatharinadavids.de\/\">site<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>Famous and multi-awarded poet, narrator, essayist, and director of Instituto Cervantes in Madrid, Mr. <strong>Luis Garcia Montero<\/strong>, will recite his original work \u201cMagallanes\u201d for Bersong Euro-Pinoy. Luis Garc\u00eda Montero (Granada, 1958) is the General Director of the Instituto Cervantes since 2018. He has received, among others, the Adon\u00e1is Poetry Prize (1982), the National Literature Prize (1994), the National Critics Prize (2003), the Madrid Booksellers Guild Prize (2009), the Poets Prize del Mundo Latino (Mexico, 2010), Ram\u00f3n L\u00f3pez Velarde Award (Mexico, 2017), Parallel 0 Award (Ecuador, 2018) or Carlo Betocchi Literary Award (Italy, 2020).<\/p>\n<p>Famous poem \u201cAmis, Un Dernier Mot\u201d (Friends, one last word) by <strong>Victor Hugo<\/strong> will be read by French actress Anne Gauther Das Neves. The poem was translated by <strong>Martin Macalintal<\/strong>, audio-visual attache French Embassy and Jean &#8211; Pierre Dumont, Director, Alliance Francaise de Manille.<\/p>\n<p>Bar\u00e1tim vagytok,\u201d You are my friends\u201d by S\u00e1ndor Pet\u0151fi, will be read by Hungarian Ambassador Dr. <strong>Titanilla T\u00f3th.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Rima LII\u201d, a sonnet on friendship by<strong> Dante Alighieri<\/strong>, will be read by Alessandro Milani, General Manager of the Philippine-Italian Association. This is in celebration of Dante Alighieri\u2019s 700th death anniversary. The Philippine-Italian Association will feature a sonnet written by Dante to his best friend, Guido Cavalcanti.<\/p>\n<p>What makes this poetry edition more exciting is that it will bring back the Italian poetry festival \u201cLa punta della lingua\u201d. Luigi Socci is the featured poet with <strong>Lorenzo Raponi<\/strong> and<strong> Stefano Teodori<\/strong> as filmmakers participating in this festival. La Punta della Lingua\u201d is an international festival, based in Ancona, Italy, dedicated to \u201cTOTAL POETRY.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Popular Austrian poem \u201cLove\u201d by <strong>Erich Fried<\/strong> will be read by <strong>Tajna Platzer<\/strong> of the Embassy of Austria.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Labirynt\u201d or \u201cLabyrinth\u201d by Nobel Peace Prize Winner <strong>Wis\u0142awa Szymborska<\/strong> will be rendered by Charg\u00e9 d&#8217;Affaires of the Embassy of Poland Jaroslaw Roman Szczepankiewicz.<\/p>\n<p>Nocturne, a Finnish poem by<strong> Eino Leino<\/strong> and translated by <strong>Keith Bosley<\/strong> will be read by Finnish Ambassador\u00a0 Juha Pyykk\u00f6.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">This is a press release.
