Seven years after Brillante Mendoza won best director for Kinatay<\/em> in 2009, the Philippines gets to enjoy another win at the 69th<\/sup> Cannes Film Festival, with veteran actress Jaclyn Jose bagging the Best Actress award for Ma\u2019Rosa.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Jose was in tears as she accepted the award onstage with Mendoza and her daughter, Andi Eigenmann. She played Rosa Reyes, a mother and store owner in Manila who sells drugs with her husband, played by Julio Diaz, to make ends meet.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jose has starred in numerous Filipino films and soap operas, with her latest project being GMA\u2019s The Millionaire\u2019s Wife<\/em>, where she plays a spoiled, rich woman.<\/span><\/p>\n
