On the occasion of the 700th death anniversary of Dante Alighieri<\/strong>, a new film produced by Massimiliano Finazzer Flory<\/strong> will be presented to the Philippine audience online, in World Premiere, on March 25th 2021.<\/p>\n

After the success in 2019 of \u201cBeing Leonardo da Vinci, an Impossible Interview\u201d by writer, producer, and actor Finazzer Flory,\u00a0<\/span>the <\/span>Philippine Italian Association<\/b> (PIA), the <\/span>Dante Alighieri Society in Manila<\/b> (SDA), and the <\/span>Italian Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines<\/b> (ICCPI), under the auspices of the <\/span>Embassy of Italy in the Philippines<\/b>, join forces with the <\/span>Film Development Council of the Philippines<\/b> (FDCP), the <\/span>National Library of the Philippines<\/b> (NLP),\u00a0among\u00a0other partners, to present the latest production of Flory\u2019s production of Dante Alighieri and the Divine Comedy, entitled:\u00a0<\/span>DANTE PER NOSTRA FORTUNA\/DANTE, OUR LUCK<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>premiere screening<\/span> of this film will take place in Ravenna, Italy, <\/span>on March 25, 2021<\/span>. (The date and venue are symbolic as March 25 is considered the beginning of Dante\u2019s journey to the after<\/span>world and Ravenna is where Dante passed away 700 years ago). Simultaneously it will be screened <\/span>online in Manila<\/span> (and other major capitals) <\/span>with a special heartfelt message from the author.<\/span><\/p>\n

Initially created as a multimedia theatre play, <\/span>Dante per nostra fortuna<\/span><\/i> reversed the perspective and brought the performing arts to the screen as a consequence of the ongoing pandemic. Through the metaphor of theater and the eyes of a nine years old child who falls asleep while reading the Divine Comedy, Dante\u2019s verses \u2013 recited by the warm voice of Massimiliano Finazzer Flory himself \u2013 are guided by the dancers\u2019 movements.<\/span><\/p>\n

The result is an exciting experimental film in which the dancers, choreographed by Michela Lucenti, take Dante and Virgil, through the fire and the blue heavens of the main scenes of the Divine Comedy, with cinematography inspired by Gustave Dor\u00e9\u2019s famous lithographic works.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The screening will mark the start of the celebrations in the Philippines of the 700<\/span>th<\/span> anniversary of Dante Alighieri. And\u00a0more activities will be presented along the year.<\/span><\/p>\n

The film will be accessible for free,<\/strong> without registration. It will be in Dante\u2019s Italian (with English\u00a0<\/span>subtitles) to better appreciate the music of the stanzas.\u00a0<\/span>The film can be viewed by the entire country and there will be no limit to the number of viewers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
