2020\u00a0was a tough year for the country’s tourism industry, especially when the pandemic hit us last summer.\u00a0 Fortunately, things are turning around this year as\u00a0<\/span>two of our most\u00a0popular beaches in the country\u00a0landed in\u00a0a\u00a0global media company’s\u00a0 top beach list.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Cond\u00e9 Nast<\/em><\/strong>, an international and renowned travel magazine, released the\u00a025 Best Island Beaches in the World: 2020 Readers’ Choice Awards list<\/strong>, in which Boracay and El Nido, Palawan bagged the\u00a0<\/span>2nd and 9th place, respectively.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Department of Tourism (DOT) celebrates a milestone saying that the inclusion of those beaches in the prestigious travel publication\u2019s annual Readers\u2019 Choice Awards, is sheer recognition of their unparalleled beauty and uniquely diverse resources.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe would like to thank the travelers who voted for our destinations. We draw inspiration from this warm reception and solid vote of confidence from our satisfied patrons. As our destinations gradually reopen with health and safety measures in place, we will continue our conservation and protection efforts of these areas,\u201d remarked Tourism secretary\u00a0Bernadette Romulo-Puyat.<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cBoracay is a screensaver brought to life, with dazzling white sand, so-clear-you-can-see-your-toes water, and a lush jungle backdrop, available to anyone willing to make the journey. The island used to fly under the radar with one of the most beautiful beaches in the world\u2014but the secret’s out. Now the three-mile White Beach, with its grottos and beachside dining (and nightlife), is its busiest swath of sand,\u201d wrote Conde Nas<\/em>t\u2019s\u00a0Caitlin Morton<\/b>.<\/p>\n

On El Nido, Morton gushed, \u201cShockingly, Palawan remains steadily under the radar, even though it continues to rank highly in our Readers’ Choice Awards. El Nido alone is home to around 50 white sand beaches\u2014it\u2019s impossible to choose just one\u2014all of which are set around dramatic limestone formations and have the finest and whitest sand you\u2019ll ever see. The water is so blindingly blue it makes the Caribbean Sea look murky in comparison. And the sunsets? Well, they\u2019ll ruin you for life. Consider yourself warned.\u201d<\/p>\n

Both Boracay and El Nido are now open to domestic tourists coming from general community quarantine (GCQ) and modified GCQ localities with health and safety protocols<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Tourism Secretary\u00a0Bernadette Romulo-Puyat\u00a0and the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) offer domestic tourists\u00a0r<\/strong>everse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR)<\/b>\u00a0tests for half the price at the\u00a0Philippine Children\u2019s Medical Center (PCMC)<\/b>\u00a0to revitalize the tourism industry.<\/p>\n
