The Sinulog<\/em> Foundation Inc.<\/strong> (SFI) and its steering committee headed by Cebu City Vice Mayor Michael Rama<\/strong> announced the cancelation\u00a0of all physical\u00a0activities\u00a0of the Sinulog<\/em> Festival 2021 due to the continued threat of the COVID-19 virus.<\/p>\n

The organizers, who initially\u00a0wanted to push through\u00a0the dance competition, asked the participants\u00a0hailing from different\u00a0parts of the country\u00a0to record their entries\u00a0instead.<\/p>\n

In an official statement,\u00a0the SFI and steering committee said that they have\u00a0decided to go online for the ritual showdown and pre-record their performances so all contingents will remain in their respective places. They added that they will implement new regulations to ensure an orderly and peaceful celebration of the Sinulog<\/em> Festival.<\/p>\n

“There will be no street dancing parade, no grand ritual showdown. Everything will be recorded and broadcast as live on January 17,” Rama\u00a0said.<\/p>\n

The virtual showdown will then be\u00a0aired on local TV stations and streamed online and no physical launch will happen on that day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u00a0was scheduled to be held at the\u00a0South Road Properties without public viewing.<\/p>\n

The Sinulog Festival is held every third Sunday of January in celebration of the Feast of the Sto. Ni\u00f1o.<\/em><\/p>\n
