This is not just for compliance with health guidelines, but also for making art more accessible and responsive in the future. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This year, the fair\u2019s focus is on a <strong>\u201c2020 Vision for a Future Reimagined.\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0While digital platforms for art are not new, mainstreaming in the art world at large has been accelerated as a response to this year\u2019s COVID-19 pandemic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><b>Where everyone can discover and be discovered<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Online exhibits have spanned various disciplines across the years\u2013 some of the earliest instances of these exhibitions include a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">virtual tour of the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/naturalhistory.si.edu\/visit\/virtual-tour\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and the archival <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scran.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Scottish Cultural Resources Access Network<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, both operational since the year 2000. Carlo Acutis\u2014titled the \u201cfirst millennial saint\u201d and beatified just this year by the Catholic Church\u2014made his own <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.miracolieucaristici.org\/galleria\/en\/galleria.html\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">virtual museum of Eucharistic miracles<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> as well.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-57675\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2020\/11\/1_Ramon-Orlina_Malakas-at-Maganda.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"471\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2020\/11\/1_Ramon-Orlina_Malakas-at-Maganda.jpg 471w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2020\/11\/1_Ramon-Orlina_Malakas-at-Maganda-177x300.jpg 177w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 471px) 100vw, 471px\" \/><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"><em>Malakas at Maganda by\u00a0Ramon Orlina<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Art has been accessible in niche areas ever since artists, galleries, and collectors have had the means to make accounts on certain platforms: online creators from the early to mid-2000s would be intimately familiar with art communities <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">DeviantArt<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Behance<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, for example. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">With everyone on social media, it\u2019s now easier to discover and be discovered\u2014one can easily search <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">#ArtistsOfInstagram<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> or <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">#ArtistsOnTwitter<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, among countless other keywords.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><b>Following suit<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Several industries have moved from physical spaces to the online sphere to keep their operations running. It\u2019s the same for museums, galleries, and artists around the world\u2014they are crafting the language for art\u2019s future as they go along. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For instance, this year\u2019s iteration of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.artbasel.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ArtBasel<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> offered online viewing rooms in place of their canceled Hong Kong fair. Their physical exhibitions may be closed, but in the online sphere, they remain open 24\/7 and free for all. The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/martiallawmuseum.ph\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Martial Law Museum<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, for instance, has put together a digital museum, library, and online modules for education about Marcos\u2019s regime. This differs from a virtual exhibition wherein works are mounted and visualized only in a virtual space or setting. Pre-registration for the physical fair will occur primarily online, while online ticket sales will be completely contactless.
