Photo courtesy of <a href=\"http:\/\/newsinfo.inquirer.net\/781898\/aquino-declares-may-9-special-non-working-holiday\">Inquirer.net<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Malaca\u00f1ang announced early on Wednesday, April 27 that May 9 has been declared a special non-working holiday through the signing of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gov.ph\/2016\/04\/25\/proclamation-no-1254-s-2016\/\">Proclamation 1254<\/a>, which the President signed on Monday, April 25.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The proclamation read \u201cMonday, 9 May 2016 should be declared a special public (non-working) holiday to enable the people to properly exercise their right of suffrage.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Workers who will report for work on that day will get 1.3 times their daily rate.
