The Philippine Travel Operators Association (PHILTOA) has organized the Philippine Travel Mart 2014. This year marks its silver anniversary, making it the longest running travel and trade exhibition in the Philippines.<\/p>\n

Mr. Cesar Cruz, PHILTOA President, also talked about the much anticipated ASEAN Integration 2015 that will help improve the tourism industry in the Philippines. He said that “all the people working in the industry are now referred to as ‘tourism professionals’.”<\/em> He also addressed one of the problems in the industry. “We have a lot of college graduates of related courses, some even have the right background, but in terms of requirements and necessary entry level skills, the Filipinos are lacking.”<\/em> They will be launching the PHILTOA Academy (PTA) which will provide a more sustainable program, offering short term courses that will focus on these set of skills. The PTA practitioners will also be the trainers. They plan to launch it on the first quarter of 2015.<\/p>\n
